The tension in your neck

The heat that flares up through your lungs and out your nose

The flutter in your chest

You’re not alone.

The people who live in the house down the street

And the people they call mom and dad

The people who have shared your bed

And the people who made you never want to leave it

The people who have stolen things they shouldn’t

And the people who put them away
